1 Timothy 6:10
1 Timothy 6:10 (KJV) “For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some have coveted, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.”
Hang on! Open your ears to hear the good news of the Gospel. It can time to “get this,” but once you do, you will be well on your way to a prosperous soul/mind. Paul is teaching Timothy here that the “love-of-money” is an attitude of the heart. It’s this attitude in our heart that can pierce us through with “many sorrows.” When we are content with what we have and look to God as our Provider, it causes our hearts to be at peace. But when we covet unrighteous mammon, that’s when we hurt ourselves. It’s not the economy or our lack of education, but rather our lack of contentment then that becomes our problem here.
This is what we’ve learned and where we place our confidence. It has taken us some time to realize this revelation and we are still getting used to the fact that God wants us to prosper. (3 John 2.) And as we seek the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, God gives us all things to enjoy. (Matthew 6:33.) We have learned to allow the love, joy, and peace already in our spirit to bubble up so to speak like an artesian well. This gives us thoughts on how to prosper so that we will have something to give to others.
We know that God does not change. He’s a loving Father and always will be. We see His true nature starting in the Garden of Eden. God prospered Adam & Eve in the garden. He provided everything they needed. All they had to do was to reach out and receive what He had already provided for them.
Again, as we study His Word and renew our minds, we are staying in relationship with Him. He shows us great and marvelous things. We, in turn, worship Him, who is the Giver of all good things. For He is worthy of all praise and honor.
