Born Again or Saved

Jesus spoke about being born again and being saved. He died so we could receive a new born again spirit and be saved from all our destructions. In John 10:10 Jesus said, “The thief comes only to kill, steal & destroy, but I have come to give life, and that life more abundantly.”

So are we born again or saved? When talking to each other, we hear these two topics being used interchangeably, and it can cause confusion, which is not from God. Therefore, let’s discuss them a little here.

Born again or saved? Read the following and you will see two different meanings:

Jesus said in John 3:7 “We must be ‘born again.'” He was talking about new spiritual birth. It helps to liken this new spiritual birth to natural birth, which happens when a seed connects with an egg. Spiritually speaking, we are born again when the seed (the Word of God) connects with our spirits (the spiritual egg). We then instantly become a brand new creation! The old is gone and the new has come (2 Cor. 5:17; Rom. 6:4b). It is impossible to be born twice naturally, neither can we get born again twice, either.

Romans 10:9-10 tells us that when we confess with our mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in our heart that God has raised him from the dead, we will be “saved.” Saved means you are being saved from something or to something. Romans 5:9 “Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be ‘saved’ from wrath through Him.” You can only be born once, naturally or spiritually, but there are many things you can be saved from, whether it be natural or spiritual. Praise God He has saved us from the sting and death and hell! We have much to be grateful for.
