Double Double Double

Zechariah 9:12

“Return to the stronghold, you prisoners of hope. Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.”

Have you ever heard the expression, “When life throws lemons at you, make lemonade!”? Many people have. This is exciting. Know that when the devil throws lemons at you, God Himself will make lemonade for you! Isn’t that good news? The Gospel is the too good to be true news! And the Bible says that God works all things together for your good (see Romans 8:28). Not some things. “All things.”

And when God works all things together for your good, He does it with style! He restores double for your trouble!

What does this mean for you and your loved ones? If you have lost a husband or wife through death or through a divorce, or a precious child through the same, your home, business, most of all your identity, because you are beloved by God, He will restore double to you. Why would He do that? Because you are His beloved. 3 John 2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.” You will end up having more than before, if not in quantity, then in quality! Meditate on these things.

Job is an example of this in the Old Testament. Job lost everything and his wife told him to curse God and die. But Job refused. Instead, he responded to God in faith, and “the Lord gave to Job twice as much as he had before” (Job 42:10). That was after he’d prayed for his friends.

David is another example. He lost the child he had with Bathsheba. Instead of pleading, David started worshiping God. Why? Because he trusted in the mercies of God. Amazingly, God later blessed both David and Bathsheba with another son named Solomon, who became the wisest and richest king the world has ever known. How does that happen?

God is the same yesterday, today and forever. And when God promises to restore double for your trouble, you can expect it to happen. “Even today I declare that I will restore double to you.” Since He declared it, He will do it!

So, know that things will be better than ever before. In this same verse, God calls us “prisoners of hope.” And hope, Biblically speaking, is a confident expectation of good things happening in your life. When you place your confidence in the finished work of Christ and your relationship with God through your Lord and Savior, you can’t help but wake up feeling hopeful. You can’t help but expect good things to happen to you!

So, when the devil gives you trouble, watch your words. Then start worshipping God as David did. Praying for your friends as Job did. And see that trouble as an opportunity for God to bless you with more than what you originally had. That means more than enough. Confidence, my friend. Confidence. We speak confidence. Say, “I will get double for all my trouble!” All day long, speak it aloud. Louder than any other voice. “Double for all my trouble! Double double double! I claim back 7 fold. Because we have now found the thief. That is now two times seven!”

Here is some scripture to meditate on:

Romans 10:3-5
3 For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does.

4 The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds.

5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.

I pull down every imagination and stronghold that raises itself up against the knowledge of God saying “double double double for all my trouble. Thief, return back to me 14 fold.”

Have a blessed day in Him! For you are blessed, blessed
