Chpt 11 – God’s Supernatural Faith

In our spirit, we have the complete measure of faith. Our faith is already as perfect and complete as the faith of Jesus! We just need to renew our mind and learn to release it!

Since faith is what releases the supernatural ability of God, start operating in His kind of faith!

Faith Was a Gift Too!

When a passage of scripture becomes so familiar that you can only see one application to it, allow the Holy Spirit to shine additional light on this part of His Word. Stay humble before your Teacher – the Holy Spirit – as we take a closer look at some very familiar scriptures (John 14:26).

John 14:26 (NKJV) “But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”

The Holy Spirit is sent to teach us ALL things and bring ALL things to our remembrance that Jesus has spoken to us. There is no revelation knowledge apart from the enlightening power of the Holy Spirit. One of the ministries of the Holy Spirit is to bring back to our remembrance all things that Jesus has spoken unto us. This is the best note-taking system available. Everything that Jesus speaks will be brought back to us, while anything that was from the flesh will not.

This ministry of the Holy Spirit is available to all believers who have received the Holy Spirit, but it is not operable in all Spirit-filled believers. It must be appropriated by faith. With a promise like this, there is no reason for believers to ever confess that they just can’t remember the Word of God or the truths it teaches.

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NKJV) “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

The way you were born again is the way you receive everything in the Christian life – by grace through faith. Salvation is everything God provided through Christ’s atonement: healing, deliverance, prosperity, joy, peace, love, anything you receive from Him! All these salvation benefits come the same way you were born again – by grace through faith!

The Greek word for “saved” in Eph. 2:8 is “sozo.” Sozo includes every aspect of salvation. Therefore, Eph. 2:8 really says, “For by grace are you ‘sozo’ – forgiven of sins, born again, made righteous, healed, delivered, prospered, etc. – through faith”

Salvation is also a gift of God! So is faith! God provides both! He also supplies the very faith we use to appropriate His grace! Both salvation and the faith to receive it are gifts from God! This is ALL grace! Provided by the finished work of Jesus Christ!! We need to return to the simplicity of putting faith in what God has already provided by grace.

Col. 2:6 agrees, declaring “As you have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in Him.”

How did we receive Christ? By grace through faith. How then do we walk in Him and enjoy all the benefits of His salvation package? By grace through faith! This is a simple principle that would stop a lot of error in the body of Christ if it were observed. We received Christ totally by putting faith in God’s grace. God’s grace has already provided all spiritual blessings in Christ (Eph. 1:3), and our faith reaches out to God and receives the benefits (Rom. 5:2). We didn’t offer the Lord any holiness on our part, but came “just as I am, without one plea” (“Just as I Am” by Charlotte Elliott). We hadn’t been fasting, paying our tithes, reading the Word, or praying an hour each day, yet we received the greatest miracle of all–the new birth. This is good news!

But amazingly, after receiving Christ by faith, many fall back into the trap of thinking that after salvation, they have to earn God’s blessings by works. That is not walking in the same way that they received Christ. If they started by grace, they should continue by grace. This is the point that Paul was making in Galatians 3:1-3.

God’s Word Contains His Faith

Romans 10:17 (NKJV) “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Faith comes through hearing the Word. How? God’s Word contains His faith. When we receive the Word into our heart, we’re receiving God’s supernatural faith. We must hear the Word because that’s how we believe and receive.

We can’t receive salvation without hearing the Word. God’s Word must come across our path somehow. We need to know that Jesus died for our sins, and because of His love, He offers forgiveness independent of our actions. His only demand is that we believe.

God is most clearly revealed in his Son. Jesus is the Word made flesh and the Living Word of God (John 1:14; Rev. 19:13).

The word of God refers to the way God makes Himself and His will known (1 Sam. 3:21). God’s word is powerful, creative and sustains all things (2 Pet. 3:5). His word is the means by which the universe came into existence (Gen. 1:3; Jn. 1:1), and His word gives life to the dead (Ezek. 37:4; Rom. 4:17). His word is a lamp that guides us in the path of life (Ps. 119:105), and His word always comes to pass (Isa. 55:11).

Some people equate the word of God with the Bible. Although the Bible reveals the word of God, it would be incorrect to say we have been born again of the Bible. The imperishable seed that gives us new life is not the written word but the Living Word who dwells in us. It’s Jesus! We are one spirit with Him (1 Cor. 6:17)! And as He is right NOW so are we in this world (1 John 4:17)!!

Our Faith is Supernatural!

While human faith follows sense knowledge, supernatural faith precedes it (Gen. 15:2-6, 17:4-6). The Holy Spirit provides some beautiful insights for us in these verses about Abraham.

Abraham “was fully persuaded that God had power to do what He had promised” (Rom. 4:21). Faith is being fully persuaded. When we are fully persuaded, we can rest. The issue is settled. Our mind is made up and our heart is at ease.

KEY: Faith is not work but a rest (Heb. 4:3). Faith is not a verb but a noun. Faith is being persuaded that God is who he says he is, has done what he said he’s done, and will do what he has promised to do.

Romans 4:17 (NKJV) “(as it is written, “I have made you a father of many nations”) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did;”

This is how God’s faith operates. He acknowledges those things which aren’t yet manifest as if they ALREADY are. God calls those things as if they were, even before there is any physical proof of their existence.

Supernatural faith literally brings things into manifestation from the spirit realm. Natural faith can only acknowledge what it already sees, tastes, hears, smells and feels.

We used supernatural faith — God’s faith — the same precious faith as Peter — to become born again. It wasn’t natural faith because we were believing for things that were beyond our sense knowledge. We had to believe in things we couldn’t see like: heaven and hell, God and the devil, etc.

The Holy Spirit enlightened us from within as He spoke to our heart so we could take a step of faith. Through His Word, we were given God’s supernatural faith when we were born again! The same faith we used to become born again is now always present in our spirit. That supernatural faith is exactly the same in our born-again spirit as it was the very moment we were saved. If we’ve been born again, we ALREADY have the supernatural faith of God!

Faith is a fruit that stems from your spirit (Gal. 5:22-23). “For with the heart man believes unto righteousness” (Rom. 10:10). For the born-again believer, faith has actually been put into our recreated spirit!

We don’t need more faith – we just need to believe that we ALREADY have it. 1 John 4:17 says “As Jesus is NOW so are you in this world!” Is Jesus in faith? Of course! He’s operating in faith perfectly! Your born again spirit has the faith of God in it perfectly, without lack or inadequacy. Acknowledge it (Philem. 1:6)!

Start cooperating and using God’s Words and discover the laws that govern how faith works to our advantage! We’ll find that the faith that ALREADY inside us is more than sufficient!
