God’s True Nature

One of our teachers, Andrew Wommack, wrote a book, The True Nature of God! In it, he shared his testimony about how the Lord woke him up one morning and told him “I have raised you up to change people’s opinion of Me that will change their lives, and then they will change the world.” Wow! That’s big!

Why? Because if we all knew just how good God is; and how much God truly loves us, then we would choose to love Him in return and to live our life for Him. If everyone understood this, it would solve almost ALL the problems of the world. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Instead, God has been so slandered that most people don’t see Him as the good God – the good Father – that He truly is. And that’s sad.

One of the biggest problems is religion’s misuse of the Law. This has done tremendous damage to God’s image. How sad. The Law came by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ (John 1:17). The Law if not properly applied, gives a wrong representation of God.

Jesus, the perfect representation of God (Heb. 1:3), said if we have seen Him, we have seen the Father (John 14:9). And Jesus did exactly what He saw His Father do (John 5:19). When you look at Jesus’ life here on earth, He showed us that God is love (1 John 4:8).

A wrong understanding of the purpose of the Old Testament Law leads to a misunderstanding of the nature of God. Most people believe God gave the Law to show us what we needed to do to obtain a relationship with Him. But the Law was never intended to bring us into a relationship with our heavenly Father.

The Law was intended to show us our sin and our need for God. It was given to show us how unholy we were so we would despair of trying to earn salvation and just receive it as a gift by faith. It was to turn us from self-righteousness to a faith-righteousness that could only come through a Savior (Rom. 10:3-4).

Before we could be motivated to receive God’s gift of salvation by grace through faith in a Savior, we needed to know to be convinced that we couldn’t save ourselves. That we needed a Savior. Today we need to humble ourselves and recognize our need for a Savior!

If you haven’t yet received Jesus as your Lord and Savior, Rom. 10:9-10 tells us that if we will confess Jesus as our Lord and Savior and believe in our heart that God rose Him from the dead, we will be saved! Sozed! Healed, set free, and delivered! And the Word says that as soon as we’ve received Jesus as Lord and Savior ALL our sins have been forgiven! ALL! (Rom. 3:25-26; 1 Jn. 2:2)! Jesus literally took all our sin and gave us His righteousness! This is the GREAT exchange (2 Cor. 5:21)! What a GREAT deal!
