JESUS, OUR FAITHFUL HIGH PRIEST

“Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people.” (Heb. 2:17 NKJV)

There is a present-day ministry of Jesus called “the High Priestly ministry of Jesus.” Today He is our High Priest! And what a High Priest He is! “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.” (Heb. 4:15 NKJV)

Through the High Priestly ministry of Jesus, we have been redeemed from the eternal consequences of sin and given His righteousness in exchange! Wow! Jesus literally became sin for us so that we might become the righteousness of God in Him (2 Cor. 5:21). What a GREAT EXCHANGE!

Think about the high priests in the Old Testament. On the Day of Atonement, once a year, the high priest would enter the Holy of Holies to burn incense and sprinkle the blood of the sacrificial bull and goat upon the ark of the covenant and upon the mercy seat inside the Holy of Holies. This High Priest offered this once-a-year sacrifice for all the people’s sins on this one day. For the rest of the year, the people had to deal with guilt and condemnation and the temporary consequences of sin. They were under the heavy burden of the Law!

BUT JESUS CHANGED ALL THAT! He became the FINAL blood sacrifice to end all those yearly blood sacrifices under the Old Covenant. Jesus “atoned” for the sins of the whole world upon the Cross of Calvary. Jesus’s ONE sacrifice paid the price for ALL sin: past, present & future! He paid for it all! Now we simply believe in our heart (spirit/soul combination) and receive!

Through Jesus’ High Priestly ministry, as the High Priest of our confession (Heb. 3:1), our praise, worship, and confession are taken to Father God! Meditate on that! Oh, the goodness of God! What a Father He is! When we spend time in His presence thanking Him for all He has done and worshipping Him for who He we bring great pleasure to God’s ears! And God enjoys hearing His Word quoted back to Him through us, His new creation (2 Cor. 5:17). Why, He has even given His angels charge over His Word! (Ps. 103:20) Isn’t that awesome! Angels obey God’s Word! Whoa! When we are walking in the Word, God’s protection is upon us! (Ps. 91:1-2; Ps. 91:11-12) Thank You, Father! Thank You, Jesus! Thank You, Holy Spirit!

Praise Father God for Jesus, our High Priest, and His ministry to us today! Now, God wants us to 1) magnify Him above our circumstances today and 2) thank Him for His deliverance in the past! And just like Jesus, when the devil tried to tempt Him in the wilderness, what did He say? “It is written!” When we say “It is written” to any temptation that comes against us or any negative circumstance, it has great power and brings joy to Father God! And Father God wants all His children to know and acknowledge (Phil. 1:6) the rights and privileges He’s already given them.

So start confessing the Word; speaking it out loud. Make declarations and decrees! Click on this link to find confession cards made just for that: https://www.newidinme.com/confession-cards/
