The Resurrection of Jesus Changed Everything
Resurrection Sunday commemorates THE most monumental event in human history — The Resurrection! Jesus’ death on the cross, the shedding of His blood, and then coming back from the dead by the power of God (Rm. 6:10-11) has set Christianity apart from every other religion. It’s the day the power of death and hell were destroyed (1 Cor. 15:55-56) and Jesus’ blood sacrifice completely obliterated the sin that separated us from God (Rm. 6:10)! NOW, because of the Resurrection, we are part of God’s family (Rm. 8:16) and can live in close fellowship with Him forever, without a conscious thought of sin (Heb. 10:2)! In fact, God remembers our sins no more (Heb. 10:17)!
Yes, the Resurrection of Jesus changed EVERYTHING! His resurrection and soon and coming return (1 Thess. 4:17; 1 Thess. 4:23) give all those who believe in Him blessed assurance! After His death and burial, three days later, God raised Jesus from the dead (1 Cor. 15:4)! Wow!
What did the resurrection of Jesus accomplish Why is it so “monumental”?
We are NOW part of God’s family (Rm. 8:16) and can live in close fellowship with Him forever, without a conscious thought of sin (Heb. 10:2)!
Jesus conquered death once and for all! Hallelujah!! That means when we make Jesus the Lord of our life, we have eternal life through Him! And when our spirit leaves our body we are immediately in His presence! (2 Cor. 5:8). This eternal life is only possible through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. He made the way for all of us to enjoy the God kind of life: “zoe” life (Col. 2:9).
In addition, the resurrection of Jesus is ABSOLUTE PROOF that we serve a LIVING God who has power over death! And this same resurrection power lives on the inside of all believers (Eph. 1:19-20)!
So, on this day, Resurrection Day, take time to thank Jesus for His willingness to go to the Cross for us and become sin for us (Heb. 12:2; 2 Cor. 5:21). Thank Him that He did for us what we could never do for ourselves. During your quiet time, reflect on all His precious promises that are yes and amen to His glory (2 Cor. 1:20)!
Spend some time meditating on the empty tomb. See Jesus walking out of the tomb and then ascending on high! See Mary at the tomb seeing the risen Savior. She thought He was the gardener. But when He said, “Mary,” she recognized His voice and realized He was her Lord and Savior. Wow!
If you have not yet asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, Rom. 10:9-10 tells us that if we will simply confess Jesus with our mouths and believe in our hearts that He is alive — He rose from the dead — we will be saved!
If you have not yet done that, we would invite you to: Simply pray
Lord Jesus, I receive You as my personal Lord and Savior. I believe that God raised you from the dead! That You are alive! Thank You for becoming sin for me, so that I might become the righteousness of God in You! Amen!
