What Are You Believing For?
Faith comes from hearing and hearing from the Word of God. What are you listening to? What are you giving ear time to? It will affect what you will be able to believe for. It is essential to understand this. What is it that you want out of life? What has God put inside your heart? When are you going to step and receive it?
I grew up loving God, but not knowing God for who He really is. I saw devastation and disappointment all around me, starting at a very young age. There was little power to change anything or anyone. Life just happened. I never saw the healing power of God demonstrated. Deep roots of emotional damage developed that needed to be uprooted.
Praise God, that He never gives up on us. In 2010, He created an opportunity for me to attend Charis Bible College for three years with my husband. My eyes were opened to things I’d never heard before. I not only learned that God wants us well but saw and heard testimonies of God’s healing power. It became apparent that He does not get pleasure out of any illness: physical or mental. Why would He?
John 3:16 tells us that God so loved the world and He loved the world when we were still in sin (Rom. 5:8). Wow! He didn’t love us after we got our act all together! No! Few have experienced this type of unconditional love. It is a love not based on how well we performed. No! Like the perfect parent, God’s love for His children is stable and sure.
For God is love (1 John 4:8). That is His true nature. He doesn’t just love us when we are acting lovely and then withdraw His love when we are behaving poorly. We need to get to a place where we can understand and embrace His love for us. Spend time one on one with Him. Jesus came to restore that relationship that had been destroyed through the wrong choices Adam and Eve had made. What a wonderful plan! What a beautiful act of true love! As we start to understand God’s love for us and embrace it, we will begin to love others the way He loves us: unconditionally.
Loving others is dependent on us knowing God’s love for us. All the instruction in the world will not enable a person to give what they don’t have. Our poor relationships with others are indicative of our poor relationship with Him. But as we learn to abide in His love, and we begin to experience His love, His love will naturally flow out of us like living water (1 John 4:16).
God’s type of love is beautifully described in 1 Cor. 13:4-7. In verse 8 Paul tells us that His love will never fail. It will never stop. It is a love that goes on for eternity. It is crucial for us to understand His type of love to operate the gifts of the Spirit the way He wants us to.
And 3 John 2 says “Beloved, I wish above all things that you prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers.”
Get to a place where you can be still and hear His voice. Psalm 46:10 tells us to be still and know that He is God. He will be exalted! Not the adverse reports we get! But His report! Whose report will you believe (Isaiah 53:1)?
As you learn to listen to His voice and obey, you will find the manifestation of what you need fully appear in your life. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith comes from hearing and hearing from God’s Word. So, open up His Word! Plant in your heart like a seed. And then water it daily, giving it the proper nutrients and light necessary for life. It will produce a harvest.
